In the occasion, he reveals that he not only captured the Twelve Guardians and the other exorcists from around Japan, but Yūto as well. After draining the energy of the Twelve Guardians, Kuranashi fights the Twin Stars, who are powerless before an enemy who uses the Guardians' own techniques against them, until Tatara, being a fierce Shikigami instead of a human, manages to break free and sacrifices himself to gravely injure Kuranashi. To recover himself, Kuranashi absorbs Yūto's body, but backfires as he has been used all along when the boy takes advantage of the situation to destroy Kuranashi from within and absorb his stolen powers.
