Miyokichi runs into Kikuhiko and comforts him and offers to help him to prepare for his role in a play the next day organised by the futatsume. In the play, Kikuhiko is to play a woman in full make-up and kimono dress. He is extremely nervous, but carries off the role superbly and the show is a great success.
